Construction Boot Camp Stops by General Heating & AC

The week long camp will spend Tuesday, June 11 at GHAC

MADISON, WI – General Heating and Air Conditioning are participating in the annual Construction Boot Camp, presented by JH Findorff and Sons Inc., with 30 student campers visiting their facility from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, MSC/MAPC Executive Director Julie Walsh announced on Monday.

Day two of the week-long Construction Boot Camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a welcome and introductions at General Heating and Air Conditioning, located at 3002 Perry St., 1st Floor, Madison, WI  53725.  The campers will then get a tour of General Heating’s Sheet Metal Shop.

Following the tour, everyone will break up into groups for hands on work featuring the following activities:

  • Sheet Metal Tool Boxes, courtesy of Sheet Metal Workers Local 18
  • Virtual Welding Machine, courtesy of Steamfitters Local 601
  • Pro Press and Fusion
  • Safety Demo
  • BIM/Trimble Layout
  • Engineering
  • Service Trainer

The day will wrap up with a brief presentation by General Heating President Brad Werlein and Labor Manager Mike Polster explaining the different career opportunities available to the campers.

“We are honored and excited to host a day of the 2019 Construction Boot Camp at General Heating and Air Conditioning,” said Werlein.  “We want to show students and the next generation of workers that there are multiple options in our industry and with our company.  We look forward to a fun day of sharing and learning!”

The Construction Boot Camp started in July of 2018 and was built to give local students a fun, hands-on opportunity to learn about the constructions industry, both on and off the job site.
